Sand Boat

February 15, 2012

This evening we had a delicious Indian Takeaway from Cafe Mumbai in Totnes.  There were nine of us –  Grannie, Iona, Poppy, the beloved, Al, Liz, Henry, Arlo and me – a bit of a squash round the table, but we managed.  Iona and Henry did some colouring in and played a few Star Wars games with Arlo while waiting for the food to come. Poppy made a cake for Craig. Liz remembered a holiday in Wales we had been on a long time ago and a sand boat she and her brother had played in. Ideally the tide should have come in and surrounded the boat making it “float”, but it didn’t quite work out like that. The photo shows they had a good time in it anyway. It seems strange that the little girl in the photo will soon be having her third baby.

After what seemed an age the food arrived and we gorged ourselves on poppadoms, mango chutney (Iona liked this),  lime pickle (Al thought this was a bit too hot and sour), vegetable korma, mushrooms and beans, hot spicy vegetables, channa masala (Henry’s favourite), sag aloo,  peshwari nan, pilau rice, biriani rice, and chicken something or other and lamb something or other (can you feel the enthusiasm fade?). There were other dishes, but I can’t remember them. It was a lovely meal and good to spend time together. Unfortunately I had to leave before the washing up. Pity that.
