Rabbit Jelly

February 17, 2012

February is getting to be a busy month for birthdays in our family and it’s not even a very long month (well this year it’s longer than usual). The beloved starts the celebrations on Feb 9th,  Eva’s is Feb 25th (enough notice Halo?) and in between we have Jeaniegran and Henry who share a birthday today. With valentines day squashed in as well, February is getting to be a bit of a cake fest.

Today we all piled in to Grannie’s house to celebrate Henry’s 3rd birthday, eat a delicious birthday tea, and to raise the decibel and excitement level to maximum. Poppy was an instant attraction to Iona and Henry, who, with the assistance of fingers adorned with chocolate from a couple of chocolate mini rolls from pass the parcel, made short work of her carefully coiffed hair. She did tickle them mercilessly though. Arlo’s dancing was cool, and Henry in his dinosaur slippers and wielding a light sabre was very cute.  Also cute was the rabbit jelly. Not made of rabbit – rabbit shaped, using a lovely jelly mould Grannie gave me a few years ago. And vegetarian/vegan jelly too –  easy to make: open the packet, add boiling water, stir, pour into a mould, leave to set.

Happy Birthday Henry and Jeaniegran!

Thanks for the notice, I will make sure I send Eva a card now!! Jeaniegran didn’t get a call I’m afraid, I have a sinus infection and spent the day on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and being waited on by Damon 🙂 xxx
