Blue sky over York Minster

June 12, 2012

We have returned from the frozen North to the wet Westcountry. Actually the north wasn’t that frozen; it was quite wet, but this has to be put into perpective – (tents floating in Anglesey and beach huts floating in Torbay).  York didn’t feel like summer (apart from the occasional moment when the cloud cleared and a tantalising blue sky appeared – the Minster looks very well against  a blue sky).

The west country though was (and still is) very wet.  Things are growing fast – the triffid under the bird feeder is now huge. The ground is very muddy and soggy. So are our bike seats as we found out when we cycled to school.

There’s clearly a lot of work to be done on the weather…I’m not sure that cooking’s going to do it.

Still it’s Grannie’s birthday today (Happy Birthday Grannie!) and the sun was out this morning for a while in her honour. Liz, Al, Iona, Henry and Noah are here (also in Grannie’s honour) from Kent (also wet) bringing rhubarb – and jam! Things are looking up.
