weekly photo challenge:purple

July 29, 2012

Frank has gone back to Spain and Paolo and Lukas have arrived. It feels a bit rollercoasterish – in a nice way.

Today we ventured on to Dartmoor without coats because it’s summer and you have to have faith. Sometimes, apparently,  faith is not enough. I blame the beloved who had a coat with him. It only rained a little…

The garden though has lots of purple flowers in it and some are edible.  The marjoram is flowering – purple flowers that are quite pleasing in salads. The lilies (not edible) are going to be white, but they look purple at the moment – and the sweet peas are a splendid array of purples. Those in the photo though have very short stems – no good as cut flowers, but they are pretty and the bronze fennel – also good in salads  –  makes a nice backdrop  – and has a purplish hue. That’s this week’s photo challenge sorted.
