Triple birthday

August 7, 2012

Today is Halo’s birthday and she went out for a meal in a Persian restaurant in Southampton  – which sounds like the kind of place I want to go to. It’s funny her not being here for her birthday or us not being with her, but that’s what growing up is all about I suppose.

She was here at the weekend though and we had a pre-birthday barbecue – the weather wasn’t all that promising, but the positive thoughts from the assembled gathering kept the rain at bay.  Lianne, Damon, Grannie and Lukas were in attendance as well as the beloved Arlo and me –  but not Rella who’s gone Over the Wall (fantastic charity that we have benefited from in the past) as a volunteer.

The birthday cake was a chocolate cake (what else?) and we had Bakewell tart made with fresh blackcurrants, lightly cooked, instead of jam. Very nice.

As well as being my elder daughter’s birthday today, it’s also both my sisters’ birthdays too. Strange coincidence.

I tried to ring my sisters but one wasn’t answering – out somewhere nice maybe? – and the other was walking the dog while her husband was making what sounded like a rather lovely chocolate souffle (I think that’s what he said) with fresh raspberries, strawberries, redcurrants and blueberries.  Making his kitchen also the kind of place I want to go to.

Happy Birthday Halo, Sal and Lucy.
