Return to the wet…

September 1, 2012

It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted anything and that’s because we have been holidaying in dry, deepest Suffolk – camping in Rendlesham Forest to be precise. Great campsite, fantastic Shakespeare in the Forest – King Lear with laughs!  – and lots of friends and food. Sunshine. Very little rain. What more can you want?

Actually we could have done  without  being beset by midges and mosquitoes (prevalent this year because of the unseasonably wet weather, apparently – though they don’t really know what rain is in Suffolk).  And I did break my left wrist. Cycling in the dark in a forest is foolhardy and not to be recommended. However  I can recommend Ipswich Hospital’s accident and emergency department especially Jemima the triage nurse who remained resolutely cheerful throughout the afternoon in spite of all the challenging patients.

No food pictures today although for dinner this evening we had tabbouleh with flat leaved parsley (home grown) and tofu with garlic, curly leaved parsley and mint ( again home grown) dip and lentils with mushrooms and the beloved’s apache chillies and, finally, some runner beans! It’s been so wet here that they’ve been scared to appear.

It’s Iona’s birthday today. She won’t have a card or present from us yet, because it hasn’t been posted. It’ll be something to look forward to. Happy Birthday Iona!
