Numbered days

September 14, 2012

These blackberries (well not strictly these, because these are painted) are sitting in the scullery with the odd fruit fly making overtures to them. Their days as fruit fly fodder are numbered. I’m going to seal them in the freezer any minute now. The options thenceforth are many. I could pick a few more blackberries – there are some growing along the lane – and then put them with the apple I’ve almost finished painting and make a crumble. Or, and this is a more tempting option because it doesn’t require me to do anything just yet, I could leave them in the freezer and use them to colour the (green) grape and chilli jelly the beloved and I will be making for everyone for Christmas this year.

Not only have I mentioned the C word, I’ve spoiled the surprise presents. Oh dear.
