grape harvest and new horizons

November 2, 2012

Didn’t manage an All Saints Day post – too much going on. Halo, Damon, the Beloved and I hooked up with the film club lasses and went to The Barn Cinema in Dartington to see Barbara –  a German film with English subtitles, not a person.

It wasn’t bad, but I did start to get irritated by those long lingering shots of her walking either down the hospital corridor in those shoes, or not in a hospital corridor in the other shoes. And there was far too much smoking cigarettes, but it was set in East Germany in 1980. There were also several unanswered questions – who slashed her bike tyres? Why did she hide the money in a hole under a cross? Why was it so windy? And why was the note not translated into English?

I guess I”ll never know.

Earlier on in the day the Beloved had harvested the grapes and he Jeaniegran and I separated them from their stalks and picked out the mouldy ones. There aren’t nearly as many as last year, but we did get some fresh pressed grape juice to drink with our pizza. The next step is the grape and chilli jelly.

Halo and Damon have gone back to Southampton today. We had a lovely time together. I hope they remember to text me when they get home – or maybe they’ll facebook me given that they have just set me up with an account.

It’s going to change the way I interact…
