headlines trump food

February 5, 2013

I bought a newspaper today. I only usually buy the Guardian on a Saturday, but the headlines caught my eye.  I parted with £1.40 so that I could read all about Richard III’s skeleton being identified, it having been found buried under a car park in Leicester, The Tory party unravelling itself  because of Gay Marriage and Chris Huhne’s disgrace – another nail in the coalition coffin (I hope).

Richard III’s skeleton revealed that his head had been stoved in, but his face was left relatively unscathed – so that the people could see that the King was really dead. It seems a horrible thing to do, but there’s an honesty there.  There is also an honesty in  the Tory diehards revealing their true colours in the gay marriage debate – half of the Tories didn’t vote with their leader. Honesty: 1, loyalty: 0.  Davy’d better watch out or someone’ll push him off his horse. Thank goodness for Chris Huhne  – we all know politicians lie, but it’s so nice to have it proved like this every now and then.

The only depressing thing is that these people are in charge of running the country.

Anyway, enough politics.  Here’s a quick representation of  some iris reticulata I did this afternoon. The colours aren’t quite right…

I won’t make a political comment because let’s face it we have more political drama than any country needs. But, the Iris are gorgeous!

I’m no history buff, but I was fascinated to read the forensic evidence to support the fact that the find was Richard III. Intriguing! As for the rest, no different to what was expected:( Your iris are lovely!
