while the cat’s away…

February 21, 2013

Rella, the beloved and I decided to have a film night in front of the fire in the front room – without Arlo! Rella chose Lord of the Rings – the Fellowship of the Ring – which is quite long, well they all are, so we decided to watch it early and eat later.

However, by 8 o’clock the beloved was too hungry to concentrate, so we stopped the film and cooked up some noodles and chopped carrots, mushrooms, prawns, and cabbage in an oyster and onion sauce. Quick and easy. It did the trick.

blueberriesfrozen-bananasfrozen-bananas-choppedUnfortunately, I had planned to use up the bananas I’d frozen (we often have a problem with overripe bananas) and make some ice-creamy dessert. I’d already taken them out of the freezer and chopped them up and found some blueberries in the freezer too and things were looking good, and then we decided to watch a film. So I put them back in the freezer. Maybe tomorrow we’ll eat them.

It’ll have to be soon because Arlo’s only in Southampton for a few days and he’d be so upset to find that the only pudding available has bananas in…

Family night is a good night with or without dessert. 🙂
