Partying in a field

June 15, 2013

Last Saturday it was Fina’s 50th birthday and she had a party in the middle of nowhere in a rather lovely field. That statement doesn’t really do it justice and, unfortunately, most of my photos don’t do it justice either. This one (featuring a camera shy Katrine) gives a hint of the event, but it makes the scene look a bit tame and it was taken late in the day as the sun started to fade.

The party was great – nice people, beautiful weather, music being played in the large tent,  kids running around, a bonfire, flowing wine and delicious food. Fina must have spent most of the previous week cooking up (meat and vegetarian) Mexican dishes which were served with a spicy salsa salad, soured cream, tortilla wraps, natchos and watermelon.

camera-shyIt was heated up and the finishing touches were put together in  the campsite kitchen. Luxury camping really.

On Sunday, back at the ranch, the beloved decided that it was time that the rickety garden bench was reduced to so much firewood.

“The only thing more satisfying than putting together an IKEA flat pack”, he said “is dismantling something from B&Q”.

Unfortunately, since the bench dismantling, the weather has taken a turn for the worse. I do hope that summer hasn’t been scared off.

Still, at least we have plenty of kindling.
